Reception Site

The quest for a reception site started about a month ago. The only requirements were that we needed to be able to bring in our own caterer and beverages. After a few weeks of online hunting; my Mom, Mrs. McIver and I went to check a couple places out. First we looked at the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse but it was way to small for the amount of people (275) we are inviting to the wedding. Then we looked at the Winder Community Center...this was a place that Mrs.McIver suggested. Before we went I had looked it up online to view pictures and there were not many on the site but the ones that were posted, did not serve this place any justice! I decided to check it out anyways because Mrs.McIver talked about how pretty is was when she once went to a wedding there.

When we got there we pulled up to a building that looks somewhat like a gym building but with brick on the outside. The outside does NOTHING for the inside. We walked in and I was amazed...it was like we had walked into a totally different place! Below are some pictures of what we found inside! :)

This is the view when you walk through the front doors. It is a HUGE "hallway" that is beautifully decorated. The floors throughout the community center are hardwoods and I love that!

Picture with the bright lights on. I like the way the "hallway" is extended to the ballroom area by using the 3 banisters on each side.

This is the right side of the ballroom. The space in the middle of the banisters will be left open for a dance floor! I love how big the space is and that the hall way flows right into it!

Left side of the ballroom.

Middle of the ballroom. The main space for the dance floor!!! There is a stage against the wall for the DJ to set up on!

View of the hallway facing the entrance doors.

This is a room off of the entrance hallway. It is huge! It can divide into 2 rooms as well. This room will hold the food. I like this space because there are 2 doors so it will make the flow of the food-line be great!

Here is a picture with some tables and chair set up and the bright lights turned off. Another great thing about this place is there is unlimited chair and table usage! I will just have to find a vendor to use for table linens and chair covers.

The Winder Community Center also has a kitchen area with an industrial size food warmer, refrigerator, microwave, prep tables, etc. It is great!

I went last week and made the down-payment for the space and am sooo pumped! I have already started envisioning what this place will look like! :) Oh and did I mention how AWESOME the price is??? it is only $113 per hour. There are a few separate fees for alcohol. But you CAN NOT beat $113 an hour!
